Privacy Policy
How WandAR handles personal information
This policy explains how WandAR collects, uses, shares, and protects
personal information through the website, mobile application, account,
pet-care, payment, message, map, alert, and support features.
Last updated: 23 August 2026
1. Scope
This policy applies when you visit the WandAR website, create or use a
WandAR account, add pet or sitter information, coordinate a care service,
send a message, use a map or lost-pet feature, make or receive a payment,
contact support, or ask us to delete your account.
The website's early-access form currently confirms your selection in the
browser and does not submit the entered address. The mobile application
and support channels do process information as described below.
2. Information WandAR may collect
Depending on the features you choose to use, WandAR collects:
- Account and contact details, such as your name, email address, phone number, authentication provider, and communication preferences.
- Pet details you add, such as names, photos, species, routines, behaviour, care notes, veterinary details, and emergency contacts.
- Your profile and, if you apply as a sitter, service areas, availability, prices, care settings, verification material, payout status, and public reviews.
- Care coordination data, including searches, requests, bookings, messages, attachments, handoff notes, service updates, reviews, cancellations, disputes, and support communications.
- Payment and payout data, including Stripe customer or connected-account references, payment status, amounts, refunds, transfers, and transaction evidence. WandAR does not store your complete card number.
- Approximate or precise location and place data when you choose maps, nearby presence, park, sitter, pet-report, sighting, or location-based care features.
- Camera and selected photo data when you add pet, sitter, care, lost-pet, sighting, or pet-tag content. WandAR does not request microphone access for the current release.
- Push tokens, device/platform details, notification state, QR pet-tag activity, lost-pet contact verification, and SMS one-time-code autofill signals.
- Technical and safety data, such as IP address, app and OS version, diagnostics, error codes, moderation outcomes, fraud-prevention signals, and restricted administrator audit records.
3. How WandAR may use information
WandAR uses personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve WandAR features.
- Create profiles and coordinate searches, care requests, bookings, places, messages, pet tags, lost-pet reports, sightings, and alerts.
- Process real-world pet-care payments and sitter payouts, handle refunds or disputes, and maintain financial records.
- Deliver account, booking, payment, safety, pet-tag, lost-pet, and support communications.
- Moderate content, prevent misuse and fraud, investigate safety or support issues, and keep the service reliable.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4. Sharing information
WandAR may share information with people and services involved in the
feature you choose to use. For example, care details may be shared with a
sitter you contact, and lost pet report details may be shared to help
coordinate the report.
WandAR may also share information with:
- Service providers that help with authentication, hosting, storage, maps and places, notifications, SMS verification, email, diagnostics, moderation, support, security, and real-world service payments or payouts. These include Google/Firebase and Google Cloud, Apple or Google sign-in, Stripe, Expo notification services, and Twilio where the related feature is used.
- Authorities, regulators, or other parties where required by law or necessary for safety.
- Another organisation if WandAR is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
- Other parties with your consent or at your direction.
5. Location, maps, and alerts
WandAR asks for location only when a feature needs it, such as maps,
nearby opted-in presence, sitter or park discovery, care locations, lost
pet reports, or sightings. Permission can be denied in device settings;
features that need location may be limited, while the rest of the app
remains available. Where a feature is designed to share an approximate
area, WandAR does not intentionally display your exact source coordinate
to other users.
6. Security and retention
WandAR aims to use reasonable technical and organisational measures to
protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and
unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure.
Production app traffic uses encrypted HTTPS connections. WandAR does
not use personal information for third-party advertising, data
brokerage, or tracking users across apps or websites, and the app does
not request Apple's tracking permission.
You can initiate account deletion inside the mobile app under Login &
privacy. Once accepted, WandAR locks access and schedules deletion of the
authentication account, profile, pets, private photos, authored message
content, notifications, device registrations, and other private account
data. Active bookings, in-flight payments or payouts, and open disputes
must be resolved first.
Completed booking and payment records may be retained in anonymised form
where required for tax, payment, safety, resolved-dispute,
fraud-prevention, or audit obligations. Restricted financial ledger,
webhook-deduplication, administrator audit, and deletion-job records may
be kept for the approved legal or operational period. A completed
deletion tombstone is kept temporarily to block already-issued access
tokens, then removed under the configured retention schedule.
7. Access, correction, and complaints
You may update common profile information in the app, initiate account
deletion under Login & privacy, or ask to access or correct personal
information WandAR holds about you. For privacy questions, requests, or
complaints, use privacy@wandar.app.
If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with how a privacy complaint
is handled, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian
Information Commissioner.
8. Overseas processing
WandAR uses service providers that may process information in Australia,
the United States, and other locations where those providers or their
subprocessors operate. We take reasonable steps to use contractual,
access-control, and security measures appropriate to the information and
service involved.
9. Children
WandAR is not directed to children who cannot lawfully consent to an
account in their location. A parent or guardian should contact us if they
believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate
permission.
10. Changes to this policy
WandAR may update this policy as the website, product, legal obligations,
or information handling practices change. The updated date above will show
when this policy was last changed.
